Bayern Munich star Harry Kane could not hide his disappointment after his squad dropped a 3-1 decision to Arsenal in the Champions League.
It was a match that Bayern Munich could never get control of and also one where Kane could not find a way to get into the flow of the attack. All-in-all, it was a disappointing game for the Bavarians.
”It was a tough game, which is kind of what we expected. It was a good battle in the first half which was fairly even. Second half we didn’t quite have the same energy or intensity and we lost too many duels. It’s our first loss of the season. We don’t want to panic too much about it. But we will learn about it for sure,” Kane told TNT Sports (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The Bavarians have shown an ability to adapt and get better. This loss, though, offered a lot of insight into some of the team’s weaknesses. Vincent Kompany and his staff will surely address the issues, but fixing them is not easy task. That said, if anyone can make the necessary adjustments, it is this season’s Bayern Munich squad — a team know for its resilience.
Noni Madueke talked about marking his return to European action with a goal for Arsenal.
The winger was electric against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest as a deputy for Bukayo Saka on the right flank, and he looked bright against Man City before an injury ruled him out of action for two months. He came back to the field as a substitute in the 4-1 thrashing of Tottenham on the weekend, and he made an immediate impact off the bench for the Gunners against Bayern Munich.
Madueke crashed the back post to tap in a cross from Riccardo Calafiori, who had also come off the bench for Myles Lewis-Skelly in the second half, and the hosts went 2-1 ahead. Gabriel Martinelli, another substitute, sealed the three points on another morale boosting evening for the team. Next is a reunion for Madueke against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and he relishes the challenge that awaits.
“It was a top night, great . A Champions League night, so it was perfect to get my first goal for the club and for the win on top. It’s a perfect night. I had a long injury, it was difficult, but today I made up for it. It’s amazing. I can’t really say much more man, just amazing!
“Yeah, it’s massive, it’s a massive show. It’s massive what we’re producing at the moment, not just in the Champions League, but our domestic form and we need to continue at this level, keep it going.
“The level we’re playing at right now is incredible and we need to try and keep adapting, keep pushing it, keep pushing boundaries and that’s the only way we can stay there.
“You go eight weeks without the thing you love the most in the world, so you are chomping at the bit to just be on the pitch as much as possible. I can’t wait!”
