Paris Saint-Germain have included Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli in their transfer target list for the summer.
Luis Enrique and PSG advisor Luis Campos are both planning to revamp the attack after this season and the Arsenal player appears to be part of their plan.
The Brazil international arrived at the Emirates from Ituano FC in 2019 and didn’t enjoy regular minutes in his first two seasons.
Mikel Arteta started offering him more minutes since the start of the 2021/22 season before the player lost prominence this season.
He has been a regular since then and has managed 62 goals and 34 assists from 267 matches so far. This season, the forward scored 11 goals and contributed five assists from 42 matches.
His Premier League stats are as follows.
Appearances: 25
Starts: 9
Total minutes: 852
Minutes per game: 34
Expected Goals: 3.38
Expected Assists: 0.99
Big chances missed: 6
Brazilian wants Arsenal transfer
The 24-year-old has still caught PSG’s attention and Media Foot from France now cover the latest.
The Ligue 1 winners seem to be looking for a world-class attacker, and the focus is on Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez. He is their priority target, and Gabriel Martinelli is a back up option.
Luis Campos is aware of the challenges of taking the Argentine away from the La Liga side and has identified other options. This is where the Arsenal player comes into the picture.
Recently, the Paris club made approaches to ask about his situation with the Gunners and the conditions needed to secure his services. This would indicate PSG contacted both the player’s camp and the Gunners.
Martinelli seems to be open to leaving Mikel Arteta’s side after this season. He ‘wants to conclude’ this chapter in the best way by winning the title. Arsenal are leading the table, nine points ahead of second placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
Media Foot haven’t take into account that Alvarez prefers to play up front while Martinelli’s position is on the left wing.
Our take: Arsenal could look to offload player
Last December, Sport Witness relayed news the Premier League side are actively looking to sell Gabriel Martinelli.
The summer window could be Arsenal’s best chance to collect a good transfer fee for the Brazilian.
That’s because his contract expires in 2027, with an option for another year, and his value is dropping. The South American’s value, as per Transfermarkt, is €45m, and that’s dropped by €10m since May 2025.
If he isn’t sold, the Gunners are likely to activate the clause to extend his contract until 2028.
