There were more paw-paw-twos than 4-4-2s in this event. Gordon teamed up with Jack Growlish, Gallagher teamed up with Harry Canine, and Rice teamed up with Collie Watkins.
But two of the players’ tries looked like dog food in the end.
All three have their own dogs. Newcastle star Gordon, who is 23 years old, said, “My dogs don’t listen to me.”
“But they’re good; they keep going.”

Galagher, 23, a star player for Chelsea, said this about his dog: “He can jump up on his back two legs, which is always cute, but he’s not the smartest.”
