Deal Completed: Arsenal finally completes the signing of Europe’s most creative midfielder who could help Viktor Gyokeres scoring 70-goals in a season

Posted on May 8, 2026 by admin

Arsenal are reportedly preparing one of the biggest transfer moves of the summer as interest in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández continues to grow ahead of next season.

Reports emerging this week claim that the Gunners are monitoring the Argentine international closely, with manager Mikel Arteta believed to be a huge admirer of the World Cup winner’s technical quality, composure under pressure and ability to control games from midfield.

The rumours have quickly gathered momentum across Europe, especially with uncertainty continuing to surround Fernandez’s long-term future at Chelsea. Despite remaining one of the Blues’ standout performers during a difficult campaign, speculation about a possible exit has refused to disappear. Several reports suggest that Arsenal are now among the clubs seriously considering a move, alongside European giants including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

For Arsenal, the interest makes perfect sense. Arteta has spent the last few years transforming the club into one of the strongest sides in Europe, building a technically gifted midfield around players such as Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard and emerging talents across the squad. However, the Arsenal manager reportedly wants even more depth and creativity as the club prepares for another title challenge and a serious push in the Champions League next season.

Fernandez is viewed as a player capable of elevating Arsenal’s midfield to another level entirely. Since arriving in England following his impressive performances for Argentina at the 2022 World Cup, the Chelsea star has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most technically gifted midfielders. His passing range, ball progression and ability to dictate tempo have regularly stood out, even during inconsistent periods for Chelsea.

The possibility of Arsenal signing a key player from Chelsea would also continue a recent trend between the London rivals. Over the last few seasons, Arsenal have completed deals for several former Chelsea players, including Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling, while recent reports also referenced the previous arrival of Noni Madueke at the Emirates.

Sources close to the situation claim Arsenal are currently assessing whether a deal would even be financially possible. Fernandez remains one of Chelsea’s most valuable assets and any transfer fee could exceed €120 million, making him one of the most expensive signings in Premier League history once again.

That huge valuation could become a major obstacle for Arsenal, especially considering the club is also expected to strengthen in other areas this summer. Reports have linked the Gunners with new attacking options and defensive reinforcements, meaning Arteta and the recruitment team may need to prioritise carefully. Still, Arsenal’s growing status in European football could make them an increasingly attractive destination for elite players.

There is also the sporting side of the deal to consider. Fernandez would likely want guarantees over his role in the team, and Arsenal already possess one of the strongest midfield units in Europe. According to recent analysis, there are doubts over whether the Argentine would immediately become an automatic starter ahead of Rice and Ødegaard in Arteta’s preferred system.

Even so, Arsenal’s ambition appears clear. The club no longer wants to simply compete for top four positions — they want to dominate domestically and in Europe. Signing a player of Fernandez’s calibre would send a massive statement to rivals across the continent and further confirm Arsenal’s transformation into a destination for world-class talent.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are reportedly determined to keep hold of the midfielder despite the growing speculation. Reports suggest the club still sees Fernandez as a central figure in their long-term project, although concerns about instability behind the scenes and managerial changes have fuelled rumours that the player could consider a new challenge in the future.

The situation is expected to develop significantly once the season ends. Arsenal are believed to be monitoring the midfielder’s stance closely before deciding whether to make a formal approach. With several European giants also interested, any potential transfer battle could become one of the defining stories of the summer window.

For Arsenal supporters, the prospect of seeing Fernandez alongside Rice and Ødegaard is already generating excitement online. Many fans believe such a midfield trio could dominate possession against any side in Europe and finally help deliver the major trophies the club has been chasing under Arteta.

Whether Arsenal can actually convince Chelsea to sell remains uncertain, but one thing is clear — the Gunners are thinking big again. And if they succeed in bringing Enzo Fernandez to the Emirates next season, it could become one of the most talked-about transfers in Premier League history.
