ARTETA FUTURE UPDATE: BIG DECISION MADE AFTER BRIGHTON DEFEAT
Mikel Arteta’s future at Arsenal has been the subject of discussion following the club’s disappointing 3–0 defeat to Brighton, but the latest reports provide an important update.
According to the BBC, reported by Reuters, Arsenal have agreed an improved contract with the Spanish manager, whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of the current season.
The development comes just days after Arsenal suffered their first Premier League defeat of the campaign.
Brighton produced a dominant performance, with Pascal Gross, Charalampos Kostoulas and Chema Andrés scoring in a result that ended Arsenal’s perfect start to their title defence.
Arteta admitted afterwards that Brighton deserved to win and described the defeat as a major lesson for his team.
Before the Brighton match, Arteta had already indicated that he and Arsenal were aligned over his future. He said both sides shared the same ambition and would resolve the contract situation when the time was right.
The latest report therefore suggests that, despite the recent setback on the pitch and previous speculation surrounding his future, Arsenal are continuing with Arteta at the helm.
