BREAKING: Mikel Arteta says Christos Tzolis career might now be….see more

Posted on October 26, 2026 by admin

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly delivered a worrying update regarding Christos Tzolis, raising fresh concerns about when the Greek winger will return to action for the Gunners.

With Arsenal entering a demanding period of the season, the possibility of Tzolis remaining on the sidelines for longer than expected could become a significant concern for the club, particularly following the recent injury problems affecting several members of the squad.

Tzolis has impressed since joining Arsenal from Club Brugge during the summer transfer window, demonstrating his attacking quality, creativity and ability to provide dangerous opportunities for his teammates. However, his progress has been interrupted by a muscular injury sustained while representing Greece during the international break, leaving Arteta with another important selection problem as Arsenal continue their fight for silverware.

The injury initially appeared manageable, with early expectations suggesting that the winger could return within a few weeks. Nevertheless, his continued absence has raised questions about whether he will be available for Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures, especially with the team preparing for a busy schedule across domestic and European competitions.

Arteta had previously indicated that Tzolis was progressing well during his recovery. The Arsenal manager explained that the winger was working towards a return, although he stopped short of providing a definite date for his comeback.

The situation has become particularly important because Arsenal are approaching a period when squad depth could make a considerable difference. With important Premier League matches and European commitments approaching, Arteta will need every available attacking option to maintain the team’s momentum.

Although Arsenal supporters would love to see Tzolis return as quickly as possible, the club must be careful not to rush the player back before he has fully recovered. A premature comeback could aggravate the injury and potentially leave him facing an even longer period away from the pitch.

The Greek international’s absence is also unfortunate because he had begun establishing himself as a useful attacking option. During his first eight appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, Tzolis registered four assists, demonstrating his ability to create opportunities and contribute to the team’s attacking movement.

His performances had offered Arsenal another dimension in the final third, particularly through his movement, delivery and willingness to take on defenders. Those qualities could prove valuable during the coming months, especially if the Gunners continue to encounter difficulties with injuries among their attacking players.

The potential delay in his return would therefore be disappointing for both the player and the supporters who were beginning to see what he could contribute to Arteta’s project.

Arsenal’s injury situation has attracted additional attention following the recent setback suffered by Bukayo Saka. The England international was forced off during the Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich with a quad problem, leaving Arteta facing further questions about the availability of his attacking players.

With Saka also expected to miss time, Tzolis’s absence becomes even more significant. Arsenal could be required to rely more heavily on alternatives such as Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke while waiting for their injured players to become available again.

Arteta has several tactical options, but losing multiple wide players at the same time can affect the balance of an attacking system. Wingers provide width, stretch opposing defences and create space for midfielders and central forwards. Without enough natural alternatives, Arsenal may need to adjust their approach depending on the opposition.

Tzolis could have offered Arteta another option on the left flank, giving Arsenal additional flexibility when attempting to break down teams that defend deep. His ability to deliver dangerous balls into the penalty area could also have benefited the club’s forwards.

However, the manager will not want to compromise the player’s long-term fitness simply because the squad is experiencing difficulties.

The biggest question surrounding Tzolis is whether he will be ready for Arsenal’s next important fixtures or whether his recovery will extend further into November. Reports before the Everton match suggested that he had an outside chance of returning, but he ultimately remained absent from the squad.

That has left supporters waiting for a clearer indication of when the Greek winger will be able to resume competitive football.

Arsenal’s upcoming League Cup encounter against Fleetwood Town could provide another opportunity for the club to assess its available attacking options. The Gunners must also prepare for their Premier League meeting with Liverpool, a fixture that could demand considerable attacking quality and depth.

If Tzolis remains unavailable for those matches, Arteta will have to continue managing his squad carefully while ensuring that the players who are fit do not become overworked.

The manager’s approach to injuries has often emphasised the importance of patience, particularly when players are recovering from muscular problems. Such injuries can be difficult to manage because a player may feel comfortable during individual training before discovering that the demands of a competitive match are still too great.

For Tzolis, the priority will be to complete his rehabilitation, regain full fitness and return when the medical staff are satisfied that he can compete without unnecessary risk.

There is also an opportunity for the winger to use this period to work on his physical conditioning and prepare for the remainder of the campaign. Although being sidelined is frustrating for any footballer, a careful recovery could help him return ready to contribute consistently.

Arsenal supporters will naturally be concerned about the possibility of a prolonged absence, especially given the player’s promising start to life at the Emirates Stadium. Nevertheless, it is important to distinguish between uncertainty surrounding a return date and confirmation that the injury has become more serious.

Arteta’s earlier public comments established that Tzolis had suffered a muscular problem and would be unavailable for a number of weeks. They did not, however, confirm that the winger had suffered a new injury or that his recovery had definitely suffered a setback.

For that reason, supporters will be looking for the manager’s next medical update before drawing conclusions about the length of his absence.

What is clear is that Arsenal need to manage the situation carefully. The club has major ambitions this season, and maintaining a healthy squad will be essential if Arteta’s team is to compete across multiple competitions.

Tzolis has already shown that he can contribute to Arsenal’s attacking play, and his four assists in his first eight appearances offered an encouraging indication of his potential value. His return would provide another option for the manager and help reduce the pressure on the players currently carrying much of the attacking responsibility.

For now, Arsenal must continue without the Greek winger while waiting for further information about his condition.

The coming days could prove important in determining whether Tzolis is approaching a return or still requires additional recovery time. Until Arteta or the club provides a definitive update, there is no confirmed date for his comeback.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that the winger can return soon, but the priority must remain his full recovery rather than an unnecessarily rushed appearance.

If he can regain his fitness and reproduce the creativity he displayed before the injury, Tzolis could still play an important role in Arsenal’s campaign. For Arteta, the challenge is to navigate the current injury situation while keeping the squad competitive and ensuring that his returning players are ready to perform at the highest level.
