The Dallas Cowboys will have to be aggressive this offseason to build a roster that can reach the playoffs after missing out this season. They could target a Las Vegas Raiders starter in free agency.
The Cowboys’ defense could be losing Eric Kendricks in free agency and will need to find a replacement who can contribute right away. While listing one free agent every team should sign, The 33rd Team’s Marcus Mosher suggested the Cowboys should give Raiders linebacker Robert Spillane a two-year, $16 million deal.
“The Dallas Cowboys have major linebacker issues going into the offseason since Eric Kendricks is set to be a free agent. DeMarvion Overshown is likely to miss most of the 2025 season with a knee injury,” wrote Mosher. “That leaves just second-year player Marist Liufau at linebacker. Spillane could be a Day 1 starter for the Cowboys after back-to-back strong seasons in Las Vegas. Spillane isn’t the most athletic linebacker, but he makes every tackle and doesn’t ever come off the field.”
Spillane has started all 34 games for the Raiders in the last two seasons. He has five interceptions, 11 passes defended, a forced fumble, 5.5 sacks, 17 tackles for a loss and 306 total tackles. He is a consistent producer in the middle of the Raiders’ defense and could be a great addition for the Cowboys.
Spillane is going into his eighth NFL season after starting his career with the Tennessee Titans. He spent four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the Raiders in 2023.
