HOT-NEWS: Giants Could Shock the NFL with Bold Rookie QB Move After Hosting Syracuse Star Kyle McCord

Posted on April 15, 2025 by admin

The New York Giants have been actively searching for quarterback help this offseason, targeting multiple veterans before ultimately signing Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson. Interestingly, they were also in pursuit of Matthew Stafford before those deals were finalized.

Now, the Giants appear to be turning their attention to the draft for a potential long-term solution.

According to FOX Sports insider Jordan Schultz, the team is set to host Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord for a workout on Tuesday. McCord has become one of the more intriguing names in what’s widely considered a weaker quarterback class. His film has generated buzz, especially after a standout season in 2024.

Originally spending three years at Ohio State, McCord transferred to Syracuse and elevated his game. Across his college career, he appeared in 37 games, completing 661 of 998 passes for 8,555 yards, 61 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. During his final year with the Buckeyes, he led the Big Ten in yards per pass attempt and yards per completion.

His lone season at Syracuse was even more impressive. McCord led all of FBS in pass attempts (592), completions (391), passing yards (4,779), and yards per game (367.6), while also posting a program-best in terms of minimizing interceptions with just 12.

While much of the Giants’ pre-draft focus has centered around Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders — a player they’ve been linked to since last season — the team may pivot depending on how the top of the draft unfolds. If Sanders is off the board by the time New York picks at No. 3, or if they decide to fill another need, McCord could be a viable option later on Day 2, especially as he’s projected to be taken after names like Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe, and Tyler Shough.

McCord’s visit only adds more intrigue to what the Giants might do on draft day.
