Jets HC Aaron Glenn makes Steelers look even worse by giving Justin Fields exactly what he wants

Posted on April 2, 2025 by admin

While the Pittsburgh Steelers are waiting for free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers to decide whether (or when) he will join the team next season, Justin Fields is taking on a new chance. And the New York Jets are already providing him with everything head coach Mike Tomlin was unable to.

It can be said that Fields didn’t receive a just opportunity last season. His performance wasn’t flawless at the start of the season, yet the Steelers maintained a winning record when Tomlin replaced him with Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson.

Following some good initial results, the situation deteriorated. Wilson’s performance fell to alarming levels and the Steelers faced another early playoff elimination. During all that time, Tomlin maintained Fields on the sidelines and never truly thought about reverting to the 2021 first-round selection.

The ex-Ohio State star received another chance swiftly, inking a two-year, $40 million contract with the Jets that includes $30 million guaranteed. More crucially, they have faith in Fields’ abilities.

The Jets possess confidence in Justin Fields that the Steelers were unable to generate.
Jets general manager Darren Mougey reiterated his steadfast dedication to Fields. He pointed out the advancements in Pittsburgh as a cause for hope. He is also intending to take all necessary steps to ensure his time with the organization is productive.

“We think Justin is the primary choice.” We have faith in Justin. We are confident that we can succeed with Justin, which is why we feel enthusiastic about him. You witnessed it last year. He was 4-2 as the starting quarterback and likely delivered some of the finest performances of his career. We will do everything possible to assist him when he arrives. Darren Mougey through ESPN

Athletes, regardless of their level or skill, simply desire a sense of belonging. They desire to be desired and to feel significant. A deficiency of trust for any reason can be the confidence-eroding factor that separates success from failure.

It was clear from a distance that the Steelers lacked trust in Fields. His agility in the pocket created excitement, but Tomlin believed Wilson’s passing ability and experience in crucial games provided him the advantage. Both did not turn out especially well. Ultimately, it was revealed that both will perform at MetLife Stadium in 2025.

Pittsburgh has no alternatives except for Rodgers, whose choice remains unmade. Nonetheless, it appears to be an inevitable outcome after the future Pro Football Hall of Famer set up a workout with newly acquired wide receiver D.K. Metcalf over the weekend.

That won’t be of significant concern to Fields, who is fully dedicated to finally delivering on his promise with a team that truly believes in his capabilities. If his Jets tenure goes bad, there won’t be another opportunity to begin, so it’s vital to make the most of this moment.

Anything below that carries potentially serious repercussions.
