Official MLB News: Atlanta Braves Head Coach Brian Gerald Snitker Confirms Three Fans Favorite Top Sensational Superstar Officially Announces Departure From Atlanta Braves…

Despite Struggles, Braves GM Shuts Down Chris Sale Trade Rumors: ‘WILL NOT HAPPEN’

The return of stars like Ronald Acuña Jr. and Spencer Strider was supposed to help the Atlanta Braves get back on track in 2025. But things haven’t gone according to plan.

After grinding through an injury-ridden 2024 season and still making the playoffs for a seventh straight year, the Braves find themselves floundering this time around—sitting six games below .500 and 11 back in the NL East standings. Still, fans hoping for a blockbuster fire sale at the trade deadline shouldn’t hold their breath.

Despite a disappointing first half, Atlanta has no intentions of becoming sellers, according to General Manager Alex Anthopoulos, who made his stance crystal clear during a recent appearance on 680 The Fan.

When asked directly whether the Braves would consider dealing ace left-hander Chris Sale, Anthopoulos was unequivocal:

“No, zero,” he responded, as quoted by Sports Illustrated. “I’ve seen the speculation, and that’s why it’s completely ridiculous to me. We’re not selling. Especially someone who has club control beyond this year. Will not happen.”

That kind of bluntness leaves no room for interpretation. And Anthopoulos didn’t stop there.

“I never make definitive statements unless I plan to stick to them. Once you go back on them, you’re a liar and you’re done,” he said. “So, will not happen. Bold. Italicize it. CAPS.”

Sale Is Staying Put
Sale, 36, has been a rare bright spot in a tough Braves season. His performance, leadership, and remaining team control through 2026 make him a key piece for any kind of short- or long-term success Atlanta envisions.

While other teams may come calling with trade offers before the deadline, Anthopoulos has slammed the door on any possibility of moving the veteran southpaw.

The Braves’ poor record has sparked speculation about a possible pivot toward retooling. But based on the front office’s stance, Atlanta clearly believes it can still make noise this year—or at the very least, build toward a stronger 2026.
