The Green Bay Packers finished their regular season with a third-ranked spot in the NFC North. Their playoff aspirations were short-lived as they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round. A 22-10 routing made one thing clear, the Packers’ offense was incomplete. As the team hopes to have a productive off-season, running back Josh Jacobs is busy on a recruitment drive.
It was his first year with the team. Josh Jacobs understands what went wrong for Green Bay’s offense this year. To him, the team requires one seasoned player at the wide receiver position who can be relied on consistently if the Packers intend to make a deep playoff run. In his defense, that is not a bad take but his teammates beg to differ.

We’ve got a really young group of receivers; all can be really, really, really special. But I think, personally, we need a guy that’s proven to be a No. 1 already-somebody we know that’s going to be a little more consistent.

He went on to share similar sentiments with Chris Simms of NBC. Jacobs would be open to having Davante Adams back as his future with the Jets remains uncertain.
Green Bay has not had much luck in drafting or trading for wide receivers since the departure of Davante Adams
The most productive wide receiver for Green Bay in 2024 was Jayden Reed, who had 857 yards and 6 touchdowns. Following him are Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Vicks, who ended with 601 and 415 yards, respectively.
Green Bay has missed Davante Adams. Since his departure, none of their wideouts have had a standalone 1,000-receiving-yard season. On the positive side, a homecoming could be in the works for the six-time Pro Bowler, whose future is once again uncertain due to Aaron Rodgers. The Packers will need to do something they have not since 2002; draft a wide receiver in the first round.
The team has the 23rd overall pick in the draft but there are not many options one can look at and go, ‘He’s going to be a star,’ in this year’s draft class. The existing wideouts on Green Bay’s roster have potential but they are yet to reach their peak and there is no guarantee how long they will take to do so. This means the best option left for the Packers would be to trade for a top receiver, however, it means giving up a lot of capital, a price they might not be willing to pay.
