Pittsburgh Steelers set to secure former Jackson State Tiger Quarterback in the NFL Draft.

Posted on March 30, 2025 by admin

The Pittsburgh Steelers are searching for a quarterback. Regardless of whether they acquire Aaron Rodgers, they are expected to bring in another player via the 2025 NFL Draft, and a first-round talent is starting to gain traction as a possibility.

Sheduer Sanders was previously anticipated to be the number one choice in the NFL Draft. Currently, the Tennessee Titans appear to be convinced about Cam Ward from Miami. Although the Cleveland Browns require a quarterback, they might overlook Sanders, creating an opportunity for a drop.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Sanders might not be the second overall selection.

“According to my sources, the Browns at pick two and the Giants at three have Shedeur Sanders as a potential option, although it appears the Browns are currently favoring pass rusher Abdul Carter,” Fowler stated. “However, the challenging aspect regarding Sanders is his positioning.”

If Sanders crashes, it’s unclear where he lands. The middle to late first round seems to be how he’s perceived throughout the league.

“I’ve communicated with several trusted high-level personnel individuals asking if Shedeur Sanders is a first-round talent.” Do you possess a first-round evaluation on him? Four of those individuals declined. Two of those individuals mentioned that he’s more of a mid-to-late first-round selection in their opinion,” Fowler stated. “While we understand that quarterbacks are often elevated and selected too early, being chosen in the top three at this stage is considered quite excessive by many in the league.”

The Steelers have Sanders, along with other first-round names on their list. Even with Rodgers, they wouldn’t rule out a first-round quarterback, and if Sanders is there, he’d be hard to pass up. Now, whether or not they have him high enough on their board to pass up names like Kenneth Grant or Emeka Egbuka is unknown, but no one can rule out the possibility that Sanders may find himself as an option for Pittsburgh – and they may take advantage of it.
