BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal release official statement on Bukayo Saka’s injury against Tottenham yesterday as two injured players are set to return to face Chelsea this week

Posted on February 23, 2026 by admin

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka picked up a knock during the 4-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday evening.

The 24-year-old got caught under the legs of Xavi Simons as he tried to track back, and he underwent treatment before being replaced in stoppage time.

Noni Madueke came on in Saka’s place for the final five minutes of the match.

There is no indication that Saka will be sidelined for upcoming games, and the expectation is that he will be in the matchday squad this weekend.

Expected Return Date – Sunday 1st March vs Chelsea (h)

Ben White

The right-back was a surprise omission from the squad for the North London derby. Asked about the defender’s fitness before the match, manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that he had sustained a minor muscular injury:

“It was Ben, he had a little niggle yesterday, and he couldn’t make the game.”

Based on Arteta’s remarks, White should not be on the sidelines for too long.

Expected Return Date – Sunday 1st March vs Chelsea (h)

Kai Havert

The German international did not make the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Arteta said that the match had come “too early” for the forward.

Havertz has been out with a hamstring injury since the 3-0 win over Sunderland at the start of this month.

Expected Return Date – Sunday 1st March vs Chelsea (h)

Max Dowman

The teenager has been unavailable since the beginning of December after sustaining ankle ligament damage during an Under-21 match. Speaking earlier this month, Arteta said that Dowman should be back in full training very soon.

He hasn’t made a matchday squad over the past couple of weeks, so it remains to be seen whether the medical staff are just being cautious with his recovery or he has suffered some kind of setback.

Expected Return Date – Unknown

Mikel Merino

The midfielder underwent surgery earlier this month on a stress fracture in his foot.

Merino is not expected to be back in contention before the end of the season, with his recovery time expected to take 3-4 months.

Expected Return Date – Next Season
