“I gave him the Man of the Match award, he didn’t scored but without him we couldn’t have won yesterday”: Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens names ONE of his teammates who was better than any other players on pitch against Everton yesterday

Posted on February 24, 2026 by admin

Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens were the heroes again in Man United’s 1-0 win against Everton, and they’re making Ruben Amorim’s transfer complaint look very silly.

Michael Carrick’s unbeaten streak at Man Utd has extended to six games, with 16 points from a possible 18 setting them up as favourites to secure UCL football next season.

Benjamin Sesko was the difference-maker up top, and Senne Lammens was a brick wall at the back, strengthening the spine of the team.

It all makes Ruben Amorim look very silly for his transfer complaint, both in January as well as last summer.

Ruben Amorim’s transfer complaint at Man Utd

The results merited Amorim’s sacking far before it actually happened, because he eventually got sacked for basically going against the board.

That frustration was bubbling beneath the surface since the summer, when his transfer targets were ignored in favour of the board’s targets.

Amorim wanted Antoine Semenyo, he got Bryan Mbeumo. He wanted Ollie Watkins, but Benjamin Sesko was signed.

Finally, he wanted Emi Martinez, but the board went with the long-term view and signed Senne Lammens instead.

In January, funds were set aside for Semenyo, who chose Man City instead, and United declined to do further business, which caused Amorim to blow up.

He effectively engineered his own exit by burning the bridges, but just six games under Carrick, the two players whose signing caused him immense frustration are making him look silly.

Amorim wanted the same Cunha-Mbeumo template followed in all transfer signings, even if it meant mortgaging the future of the club.

Neither Watkins nor Martinez would be able to give United more than two good seasons, and neither had any resale value, especially at the price Aston Villa would demand for them.

In contrast, even the long-term play for Sesko and Lammens is delivering immediate dividends for United, as they are taking the leap in real time.

Lammens, especially, is making a mockery of his transfer fee, as he cost less than half of what Martinez would have, ignoring the wages which would have been humongous.

Amorim needed a reason to escape a situation he had made untenable himself by not getting any positive results.

Sesko and Lammens just ended up getting caught in the crossfire between Amorim and the board. They are making him look silly now.
