“It’s either I play for Manchester United or I don’t play football anymore”: Man United top transfer target declared he’ll not play for his current team again after they rejected The Reds’ January approach

Posted on February 27, 2026 by admin

Manchester United are expected to be on the lookout for a goalscoring winger once the summer window opens.

While they have Amad on the right, they lack a standout left winger. Multiple names are on the shortlist, including Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig.

However, INEOS prefer players with Premier League experience, and hence Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye and Anthony Gordon of Newcastle have emerged as options.

However, it will be difficult to prise the Senegalese away from the Toffees, which is why the Red Devils are keeping tabs on other names on the market.

Jarrod Bowen emerges as surprise target
West Ham skipper Jarrod Bowen has surprisingly emerged as a target, with the Englishman open to leaving the London Stadium after six years.

United are firmly in the mix, alongside Tottenham Hotspur. With the Hammers firmly embroiled in a relegation scrap, the England international could be signed for a cut-price fee.

According to Teamtalk, West Ham do not want to lose the 29-year-old, and are expected to demand €60 million for his signature, but an unlikely relegation could send the price spiralling down.

“Jarrod Bowen’s commitment to West Ham United is being tested, with sources informing TEAMtalk that he views his future as ‘very open’, with Manchester United and Tottenham among his potential suitors in the summer.

Relegation could bring his price down sharply

“Speculation about a potential summer 2026 exit has intensified, particularly if West Ham fail to secure top-flight survival. Interest from bigger clubs persists. We understand Man Utd could target him if West Ham go down, viewing him as a way to boost their attack.

“Tottenham have longstanding admiration, having enquired about him in recent windows and seeing him as a “complete footballer” suited to next season’s European aspirations. Their hopes of landing Bowen will also hinge on whether they can avoid relegation themselves, though.

“West Ham are fiercely protective of their captain, and any permanent transfer would command a substantial fee given his contract length and market value, estimated around €60million (£52.5m / $70.8m). However that fee is negotiable if they do drop to the Championship.”

INEOS should pounce

Despite a difficult season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, the Englishman has eight goals and four assists to his name.

He can play all across the frontline and his attacking skillset makes him a standout option. The only issue is his current age, with INEOS refraining from signing players over 26 up until now. Only time will tell whether they shift their stance for Jarrod Bowen.
