“I’m a Liverpool legend but Arsenal will dominate the whole Europe for decades if they finally sign him”: Steven Gerrard warns Premier League teams that Arsenal will dominate the whole Europe for many years if they are allowed to sign the player they have agreed to sign

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has named the position Arsenal have to strengthen during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have had a terrific campaign under manager Mikel Arteta. The club recently lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City, but could still end the season with silverware.

Arsenal are into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and Champions League. They also have a nine-point lead over Man City at the top of the Premier League, having played an extra game more.

Regardless of how the season ends, there will be another huge summer spending spree, and Gerrard believes the Gunners are bound to bolster the left wing department before next season.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Gerrard highlighted that the club could look for an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. He said: “I think Arsenal will potentially go for a player on the left.

“I don’t think Gabriel Martinelli has been as good as he was previously maybe and Leandro Trossard is a good player, but that is an area they might look at in terms of how to get the team and squad better.”

Arsenal could part ways with Trossard this summer
Trossard had a brilliant start to the campaign with the Gunners, but his form has dipped drastically during the back end of the season. He has not scored for the club in his last 17 appearances.

The 31-year-old has still fared well with 16 goal involvements, but his future could be elsewhere. He received a salary hike last summer but his contract was not extended (June 2027).

The Belgian will enter the last year of his deal in July and could be shown the exit door.

Gabriel Martinelli has the same number of goal contributions as Trossard this term, but the Brazilian has been equally inconsistent, with only one goal and three assists in the league.

Compared to Trossard, Martinelli is still in the prime of his career at 24. He has proved a quality impact substitute, and the club are unlikely to part ways with him this summer.

We expect the former Ituano graduate to stay for another couple of seasons at least. A marquee left winger must be signed, and it remains to be seen who Arsenal could target.

They are ‘investigating‘ a deal for Paris Saint-Germain Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but the European champions consider him a near-unsellable star and may not entertain his summer exit.
