“I will resign tomorrow if he’s not banned from my team”: Mikel Arteta names ONE player who must be banned from the Club after Manchester City lost today

Posted on April 19, 2026 by admin

Mikel Arteta did not hide his frustration after Arsenal FC slipped to a disappointing defeat, pointing directly at his team’s defensive shortcomings as the key reason behind the loss.

Speaking shortly after the final whistle, Arteta’s tone was sharp and honest. The Arsenal manager made it clear that while his side showed flashes of quality going forward, their inability to stay compact and disciplined at the back ultimately cost them the result. He emphasized that at this stage of the season, such lapses are simply unacceptable for a team with title ambitions.

Arteta reportedly highlighted moments in the game where Arsenal lost concentration, failed to track runners, and allowed their opponents far too much space in dangerous areas. According to him, these were not complex tactical issues but basic defensive errors—mistakes that should not be happening at the highest level. He stressed that conceding goals in such a manner undermines all the hard work done in attack.

The Spaniard also suggested that his players lacked the necessary aggression and organization when defending key situations, particularly during transitions. He pointed out that winning duels, maintaining shape, and communicating effectively are fundamental aspects of defending—areas where his team fell short on the day.

Despite the criticism, Arteta made it clear that the responsibility is shared. While he expects more from his defenders, he also acknowledged that defensive stability starts from the front, insisting the entire team must work harder to prevent such vulnerabilities. He called for an immediate response, urging his players to learn quickly and show character in the next match.

For Arsenal, the defeat serves as a wake-up call. Under Arteta, they have built a reputation for structured and disciplined football, but this performance exposed cracks that could prove costly if not addressed swiftly. The manager will now demand a strong reaction as the team looks to regain momentum and keep their season on track.
