TERMS AGREED: Arsenal have now agreed personal terms a creative attacker who could get Viktor Gyokeres scoring 70-goals per season- Medical already completed

Arsenal are moving aggressively in the race to sign Julián Álvarez from Atlético Madrid, with the Gunners determined to land one of Europe’s most complete forwards ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manager Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta are understood to be pushing hard for the Argentina international, who has emerged as Arsenal’s dream striker target. Berta’s previous connection with Atlético could prove vital, having played a major role in bringing Alvarez to Madrid from Manchester City in 2024.

Atlético boss Diego Simeone has now publicly confirmed that Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing Alvarez, alongside Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona. Simeone admitted that it is “normal” for top clubs to want a player of Alvarez’s quality, describing him as an “extraordinary player.”

That statement has only intensified speculation that Arsenal are preparing a major summer move. Reports suggest Atlético value Alvarez at around £130 million and are reluctant to sell, but Arsenal believe a strong financial package and the chance to become the main man at the Emirates could tempt the player into considering the switch. Sky Sports reports Atlético would demand around that figure even if Alvarez requested to leave.

The Gunners have been searching for a world-class No. 9 capable of taking them to the next level in both the Premier League and the Champions League. While Arsenal have built one of the strongest squads in Europe, there remains a belief inside the club that they need a ruthless elite striker to finally overtake rivals like Liverpool F.C. and Manchester City in the title race.

Alvarez fits that profile perfectly. Since leaving City, he has developed into one of Europe’s most dangerous attackers, combining elite finishing with relentless pressing, intelligent movement, and the versatility to play across the front line. He has scored 48 goals in 104 games for Atlético since his move from City and has become one of Simeone’s most trusted players.

Arsenal also know Alvarez well from his Premier League days, where he won major honours under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. His proven experience in England removes much of the adaptation risk usually involved in blockbuster transfers.

Barcelona remain serious competitors, while PSG are also monitoring the situation closely, but Arsenal believe their long-term sporting project under Arteta gives them a strong chance. Champions League football, a young ambitious squad, and the opportunity to lead the line in North London are all seen as major selling points.

Supporters are already dreaming of an attacking trio built around Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, and Julian Alvarez, with many believing his arrival could transform Arsenal from title challengers into genuine European favourites.

For now, no deal has been completed, but the signs are growing stronger by the day. Arsenal are not just interested—they are pushing hard. If they can meet Atlético’s enormous demands, this could become one of the biggest transfers of the summer.

The message from North London is clear: Arsenal want Julian Alvarez, and they are ready to fight for him.
