“We marked Martinelli thinking he was their best player but kid stepped us and did something I can’t just explain till today”: Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson names ONE Arsenal’s player who did something he couldn’t understand yesterday

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson has reportedly heaped praise on Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman after the teenager delivered another eye-catching performance during Arsenal’s victory over Palace yesterday evening.

The 16-year-old midfielder once again stole headlines as Mikel Arteta’s side secured a 2-1 win at Selhurst Park to end their Premier League campaign in style.

Although Arsenal arrived in South London already confirmed as Premier League champions, there was still huge attention surrounding the match because of the growing excitement around Dowman. The teenager became the youngest player ever to start a Premier League match and played with incredible confidence despite the pressure of the occasion.

According to reports from inside the stadium after the match, Henderson was one of several Crystal Palace players left impressed by Dowman’s maturity and composure on the ball. The Palace goalkeeper is believed to have praised the Arsenal youngster for playing “without fear” against experienced Premier League opponents, with many inside Selhurst Park shocked by how calm the teenager looked throughout the game.

Dowman was heavily involved in Arsenal’s attacking play from the opening whistle. His movement between the lines caused problems for Palace’s midfield, while his quick passing and dribbling ability constantly pushed Arsenal forward. Fans inside the stadium could be heard applauding several of his touches as the teenager continued to showcase why many believe he is one of the brightest young talents in English football.

The Arsenal academy graduate has enjoyed a remarkable rise this season. He has already broken multiple records, including becoming the youngest scorer in Premier League history earlier this year after scoring against Everton. His rapid development has surprised even some within Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta repeatedly praising the youngster’s mentality and fearlessness.

Yesterday’s match against Crystal Palace only strengthened the belief that Dowman is destined for a huge future. Despite Arsenal rotating parts of their squad ahead of the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, the teenager looked completely comfortable at senior level.

Dean Henderson reportedly told teammates after the match that Dowman “looks special,” adding that players of his age rarely show such confidence in possession against Premier League opposition. The Palace goalkeeper was particularly impressed by the youngster’s decision-making and ability to handle physical challenges from senior defenders.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has carefully managed Dowman’s development this season, but performances like yesterday’s are increasing pressure on the club to give him a bigger role next campaign. Arteta previously described the teenager as a player who “changes games” whenever he touches the ball, following his historic performance against Everton earlier this year.

The victory itself was another positive moment for Arsenal ahead of the biggest game of their season. Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Noni Madueke secured the win for the Gunners before Jean-Philippe Mateta scored late for Palace. Arsenal players then celebrated lifting the Premier League trophy in front of their travelling supporters, ending a historic domestic campaign on a high note.

For Crystal Palace, the defeat was disappointing, but there were still positives to take from the performance. Oliver Glasner’s side competed well for long periods and nearly found a late equaliser before a goal was ruled out for offside. However, much of the post-match discussion quickly shifted toward Arsenal’s teenage sensation.

Across social media, supporters from both clubs were praising Dowman after the final whistle. Many Arsenal fans compared his confidence to some of the club’s greatest academy graduates, while neutral fans admitted the teenager already looks capable of becoming a future England star.

The growing hype around Max Dowman continues to build with every appearance, and if yesterday’s performance against Crystal Palace is another sign of what is to come, Arsenal supporters may be witnessing the emergence of a truly special footballer.
