“Arsenal will dominate Premier League for many years if they sign him”: Pep Guardiola names ONE player Arsenal needs to sign and dominate European football

Posted on June 3, 2026 by admin

Pep Guardiola has backed Arsenal to become the dominant force in English football for years to come if they successfully strengthen their squad with top-class signings during the summer transfer window.

The Manchester City manager, who has witnessed Arsenal’s remarkable rise under Mikel Arteta over recent seasons, believes the North London club is only a few additions away from establishing a period of sustained success at the highest level.

Speaking during a football discussion about the future of the Premier League title race, Guardiola praised Arsenal’s development and suggested that their current project is one of the strongest in Europe. He claimed that if the Gunners manage to recruit elite players this summer, they could create a team capable of dominating English football for many years.

“Arsenal already have an incredible foundation,” Guardiola reportedly said. “They have a fantastic manager, a young squad, great energy and players who continue to improve every season. If they bring in the right top players this summer, they can dominate the Premier League for a long time.”

Arsenal have established themselves as one of City’s biggest challengers in recent campaigns, pushing Guardiola’s side all the way in several title races. Under Arteta, the Gunners have transformed from a rebuilding side into genuine contenders for major honours both domestically and in Europe.

Guardiola highlighted the importance of maintaining momentum through smart recruitment, something that has been central to Manchester City’s success over the last decade. According to the Spaniard, Arsenal are now at a stage where adding a few world-class players could elevate them from contenders to serial winners.

“When a team reaches this level, the next step is always difficult,” Guardiola explained. “You need players who can make the difference in the biggest matches. Arsenal already have quality everywhere on the pitch, but the arrival of more top players could make them even stronger.”

The City boss reserved special praise for Arteta, who previously worked as his assistant at Manchester City before taking charge at Arsenal. Guardiola believes Arteta has built one of the most balanced teams in Europe and has successfully created a winning culture at the Emirates Stadium.

“Mikel has done an exceptional job,” Guardiola said. “He has created an identity. Everyone knows how Arsenal want to play. They are organised, aggressive, technically strong and mentally prepared. These qualities are why they are competing at the highest level.”

Guardiola also pointed to the age profile of Arsenal’s squad as a major reason why their future looks so bright. Key players are either entering their prime years or still have plenty of room for development, giving the club a strong platform for long-term success.

Players such as Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães have become cornerstones of Arteta’s project. Guardiola believes that keeping this core together while adding further quality could create a team capable of winning multiple league titles.

“What makes Arsenal dangerous is that many of their best players are still improving,” Guardiola continued. “Normally when a team reaches the top, some players are already close to the end of their peak years. Arsenal are different. Many of their leaders still have their best football ahead of them.”

The Manchester City manager also warned rival clubs that Arsenal’s ambition in the transfer market should not be underestimated. Reports have linked the Gunners with several high-profile targets as they look to strengthen key areas ahead of the new season.

According to Guardiola, successful clubs are always looking for ways to improve regardless of how strong they already are.

“The best teams never stop evolving,” he said. “When you think you are perfect, you start falling behind. Arsenal understand this. They are looking to improve every season, and that mentality is why they will continue competing for trophies.”

Guardiola further suggested that Arsenal’s growing experience in title races and European competition could prove invaluable in future campaigns. The lessons learned from competing against elite opposition may help the squad handle pressure even more effectively moving forward.

With Arsenal expected to be active in the transfer market, supporters will be encouraged by Guardiola’s assessment of the club’s future. The City manager’s comments reflect the respect Arsenal have earned across the football world following their impressive progress under Arteta.

Should the Gunners secure several marquee signings this summer, Guardiola believes they could begin an era of sustained success that rivals some of the greatest periods in Premier League history.

While competition from Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and other top clubs is expected to remain fierce, Guardiola is convinced Arsenal possess all the ingredients needed to become English football’s dominant force.

As anticipation builds ahead of the new season, Arsenal fans will hope their club can complete the necessary business in the transfer market and turn Guardiola’s prediction into reality. If they do, the Gunners may be set to usher in a new golden era at the Emirates Stadium, one that could see them competing for and winning major trophies year after year.
