“If Arsenal sign him, they will be a nightmare to play against next season”: Pep Guardiola says Arsenal are about to sign the player who could make them unplayable next season

Posted on June 16, 2026 by admin

Arsenal have been monitoring RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, according to Sky Sports.

The Gunners are expected to land a marquee left winger this summer, and they have been linked with multiple names.

Bradley Barcola and Morgan Rogers have been mentioned, and Sky Sports claim that Diomande is on the club’s shortlist.

The 19-year-old had a sublime debut season with RB Leipzig, and he is presently with the Ivory Coast at the World Cup.

Diomande’s preferred position does not suit Arsenal

The teenager had a wonderful World Cup debut against Ecuador yesterday and tormented Piero Hincapie with his dribbling.

The Arsenal man struggled to cope with Diomande’s trickery from the right flank, and he was well beaten on many occasions. The winger completed four dribbles and won 11 duels.

Despite this, Arsenal may not make a huge outlay on his services, given his preferred position is well covered at the moment.

Diomande can play on either flank, but he is most comfortable on the right wing, as highlighted during his debut Leipzig campaign.

The Ivorian made 20 out of his 23 goal contributions from the right. Hence, we don’t see the Gunners lodging a formal approach.

Leipzig want a staggering £86 million for Diomande. Arsenal are unlikely to make such a big investment for another right-sided winger.

The Gunners have the position well-equipped with the presence of Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and wonderkid Max Dowman.

Instead, the budget could be spent on two left-wing options, with the prospect of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli heading out.

The Gunners are hot on the trail of Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis, who could be prised away for around £35m in the near future.

Alongside him, we would personally like the club to pursue a deal for Aston Villa’s Rogers, who would be a proper upgrade for the role.
