DEAL HIJACKED: Man United hijacked top Liv…see more

Posted on August 19, 2026 by admin

Manchester United have reportedly made a dramatic move for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with claims that the Red Devils are prepared to hijack Liverpool’s interest in the Georgian winger.

Kvaratskhelia has continued to attract enormous attention from Premier League clubs, and his name has increasingly been linked with a potential move to England. Recent reports have identified Manchester United as one of the clubs monitoring his situation, while Liverpool have also been mentioned among the sides interested in the PSG forward.

The latest development could therefore create another fascinating transfer battle between two of English football’s biggest clubs. Manchester United are understood to be determined to strengthen their attacking options, while Liverpool are also looking for elite attacking talent as they reshape their squad under new manager Andoni Iraola. Liverpool’s interest in attacking reinforcements has been well documented, particularly as the club looks to maintain its competitiveness at the top of the Premier League.

Kvaratskhelia would represent an extraordinary statement signing for Manchester United. The Georgian international has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting wide attackers, combining exceptional dribbling ability with creativity, acceleration and an unpredictable style that makes him extremely difficult for defenders to control. His ability to operate from the left side while also moving into central areas would give United another player capable of changing a match with a single moment of individual brilliance.

The reported Manchester United interest is not entirely new. United have previously been linked with Kvaratskhelia, including during his time at Napoli, when his performances attracted attention from several of Europe’s biggest clubs. Reports at the time suggested that United were among the clubs monitoring him, although Paris Saint-Germain eventually secured his services from Napoli in January 2025 for a reported €70 million.

Since arriving in Paris, Kvaratskhelia has continued to develop into a major attacking star. His performances have ensured that interest in his services has not disappeared, with Premier League clubs continuing to monitor his situation. PSG are naturally in a powerful position because the player remains under contract, meaning any club hoping to take him away from Paris would have to convince both the player and the French champions.

That is where Manchester United’s reported interest becomes particularly intriguing. United would not simply be attempting to sign another promising winger. They would be attempting to secure a player capable of becoming the face of their attacking project. The club has been working to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours again, and the addition of a player with Kvaratskhelia’s technical quality could significantly increase the attacking threat available to Michael Carrick.

For Liverpool, losing Kvaratskhelia to Manchester United would be a major disappointment. The Reds have been linked with the Georgian winger as they search for elite attacking talent, and there have even been suggestions that a player of his quality would be an ideal addition to their squad. Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise previously described a Liverpool attack featuring Kvaratskhelia alongside Michael Olise as potentially “unbelievable,” while questioning whether the club would have the financial capacity to complete such an ambitious move.

That financial question could become one of the most important aspects of the transfer battle. Kvaratskhelia is no longer the relatively inexpensive Napoli prospect who first emerged on the European stage. PSG paid a substantial fee to acquire him, and his value has increased because of his performances at the highest level. Reports have even suggested that an enormous fee would be required to convince PSG to consider selling him, with one recent report putting the potential figure at around £160 million.

Such a price would make any potential Premier League transfer extremely complicated. Manchester United have already invested heavily in their squad, and current reports indicate that financial considerations remain important to the club. Carrick recently stated that United would not make a £100 million signing this summer because of financial constraints, despite continuing to strengthen the squad.

That means any claim that United could simply walk into Paris and sign Kvaratskhelia for an enormous fee should be treated cautiously. The idea makes for a huge transfer story, but the financial realities would have to be overcome before any deal could become realistic.

Nevertheless, United could attempt to structure the deal differently. Rather than simply paying a massive transfer fee, the club could explore a package involving player sales, bonuses or other financial arrangements. Manchester United have previously been linked with creative approaches to major transfers, and their ability to generate funds through player departures could determine how aggressively they can pursue another superstar.

The attraction for United is obvious. Kvaratskhelia possesses several qualities that could make him particularly valuable in the Premier League. He is comfortable receiving the ball in tight spaces, can beat defenders one-on-one, has the acceleration to attack open areas and possesses the creativity required to produce chances for teammates. His ability to carry the ball over long distances would also give United a different dimension when transitioning from defence into attack.

For a club that has struggled at times to produce consistent attacking combinations, the Georgian could provide a significant solution. Instead of relying exclusively on structured build-up play, United would have a winger capable of creating opportunities when the tactical plan breaks down. That individual quality can be priceless in major Premier League matches, particularly against opponents who defend with a deep block.

Kvaratskhelia’s versatility would also be attractive. Although predominantly associated with the left wing, he is capable of drifting inside and influencing the game from central positions. This could allow United to create rotations between their wide players, attacking midfielders and forwards. A player who can change positions without losing his effectiveness can make an attacking system considerably more difficult to defend.

There is also the psychological impact of such a signing. Manchester United have spent recent years attempting to rebuild their reputation as a club capable of attracting the world’s best players. Signing Kvaratskhelia ahead of a major Premier League rival would send a powerful message about the direction of the club.

A transfer hijack would be particularly significant because Liverpool and United remain two of the biggest names in English football. Whenever the two clubs compete for a player, the battle extends beyond the transfer market. Supporters see these deals as part of the broader rivalry, meaning a player choosing one club over the other can quickly become a major talking point.

Liverpool, however, are not without their own advantages. The club remains an attractive destination for elite players, especially because of its Champions League ambitions and its reputation for developing attacking football. New manager Andoni Iraola is expected to bring an energetic and vertical style to Liverpool, and a player like Kvaratskhelia could fit naturally into an aggressive attacking system.

Liverpool’s current transfer strategy also suggests that the club is willing to invest heavily when the right opportunity becomes available. Reports have indicated that the Reds have been pursuing PSG attackers, including Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, as they attempt to strengthen their forward line.

That makes the Kvaratskhelia situation even more interesting. Liverpool may have several options, but the Georgian remains one of the most glamorous possibilities. If United genuinely decide to push ahead with a move, Liverpool could be forced to choose between increasing their financial commitment or turning their attention toward another target.

There is another important factor: Kvaratskhelia’s own preference. Ultimately, neither Manchester United nor Liverpool can complete the transfer without the player’s approval. Reports have previously suggested that the Georgian has been happy in Paris, while his current contract is understood to run until June 2029.

That long-term contract gives PSG enormous leverage. The French club does not have to sell, and that means interested clubs would need to present an offer that is sufficiently attractive to change PSG’s position. It also means that any reports of a completed agreement should be treated carefully unless confirmed by the clubs or reliable transfer sources.

For Manchester United, the challenge is therefore enormous. They would have to convince PSG to sell, convince Kvaratskhelia to leave Paris and then overcome Liverpool and any other interested clubs. Yet the mere fact that United are reportedly considering the move demonstrates the level of ambition surrounding their attacking rebuild.

If United somehow manage to complete the hijack, Kvaratskhelia could become one of the most important signings of the new era at Old Trafford. His arrival would not simply add another winger to the squad. It would provide United with a genuine match-winner who could influence games through dribbling, creativity and attacking intelligence.

It would also create greater competition within the squad. Elite teams need multiple players capable of deciding matches, and United have been trying to build precisely that kind of depth. Having Kvaratskhelia available would allow Carrick to rotate his attacking players more effectively while maintaining a high level of quality.

Liverpool, meanwhile, would have to respond. Missing out on Kvaratskhelia would not necessarily destroy their transfer plans, but it could force the club to accelerate negotiations for alternative targets. The Reds have already been linked with several PSG attackers, and their pursuit of reinforcements suggests that attacking additions remain an important part of their plans.

The possibility of United hijacking Liverpool’s pursuit therefore creates a fascinating transfer storyline, but it is important to distinguish between reported interest and a confirmed transfer agreement. At present, available reporting supports the existence of Manchester United interest in Kvaratskhelia, while claims of a completed hijack or agreement should be regarded as unconfirmed. Recent reporting has also suggested that PSG would demand an extraordinary fee for the player, making a Premier League transfer extremely difficult.

Still, if Manchester United can find a way to make the deal financially viable, the transfer would represent one of the biggest statements of intent in the Premier League. Kvaratskhelia is exactly the kind of high-profile, technically gifted attacker who can transform the perception of a rebuilding team.

For Liverpool supporters, meanwhile, the message is simple: the Reds cannot afford to assume that their preferred targets will automatically choose Anfield. United are watching the same market, and the competition for elite players is becoming increasingly intense.

If Manchester United truly decide to hijack Liverpool’s pursuit of Kvaratskhelia, the final stages of the transfer battle could become one of the most dramatic stories of the summer window. PSG hold the strongest negotiating position, Liverpool have their own ambitions, and United have a clear incentive to make a statement.

For now, the transfer remains a reported possibility rather than a confirmed deal. But if Manchester United can turn their interest into a formal approach and eventually persuade PSG to sell, Kvaratskhelia could become the latest superstar to arrive at Old Trafford — and one whose signing would make the rivalry with Liverpool even more intense.
