BREAKING: Sir Jim Ratcliffe says Michael Carrick will never….see more

Posted on October 27, 2026 by admin

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly been involved in discussions over Michael Carrick’s future at Manchester United following the club’s disappointing run of results, but the Red Devils have yet to make a final decision on whether to dismiss their manager.

Despite growing pressure from supporters and increasing speculation about potential replacements, Carrick remains in charge for now as the club’s hierarchy considers its next move.

The situation has become increasingly complicated following Manchester United’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford. The result intensified questions about Carrick’s tactical decisions, the players’ performances and the club’s overall direction. With United struggling to find consistency, many supporters expected the club to announce an immediate managerial change.

However, the decision has not been straightforward. According to reports on October 27, 2026, United’s hierarchy held discussions about Carrick’s future but allowed him to continue preparing the team for their upcoming fixtures. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, alongside other senior figures at the club, is understood to be involved in the discussions about the best course of action.

One of the biggest reasons Carrick has not yet been dismissed is the difficulty of identifying and securing a suitable replacement. Manchester United cannot afford to make another rushed managerial appointment that fails to address the problems affecting the team. After several managerial changes in recent years, the club needs to be certain that its next decision will provide long-term stability rather than another temporary solution.

Several names have been mentioned as possible replacements, including Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann. Other managers have also been linked with the position, but appointing a new coach would require careful consideration of the club’s ambitions, finances and footballing structure.

Ratcliffe and the Manchester United leadership must decide whether to continue supporting Carrick or accept that a change is necessary. Replacing a manager in the middle of a difficult season can create additional uncertainty, particularly when the squad is already struggling with confidence and consistency.

Another important factor is the financial cost of making a managerial change. Dismissing a manager who has a contract with the club can involve compensation, while appointing a replacement may require further expenditure. If United decide to pursue a manager who is currently employed elsewhere, negotiations and compensation could complicate the process.

However, financial considerations alone would not be enough to justify keeping a manager whose results remain unacceptable. Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in world football, and expectations at Old Trafford remain extremely high. The leadership must balance the potential cost of dismissing Carrick against the consequences of allowing the club’s performances to deteriorate further.

Carrick’s relationship with the squad has also become a major talking point. His decision to leave captain Bruno Fernandes out of the starting lineup against Bournemouth attracted considerable attention, particularly after the midfielder had criticised the team’s tactical approach following the defeat to Como.

Carrick maintained that his selection decision was based on footballing reasons, but the situation added another layer of tension to an already difficult period. United subsequently lost 3-0, increasing scrutiny of the manager’s decisions and raising questions about whether he can restore harmony and confidence within the dressing room.

For Ratcliffe, the situation presents a difficult challenge. Manchester United need a manager capable of delivering results, establishing a clear playing philosophy and ensuring that the team competes consistently against the strongest sides in England and Europe.

Yet changing the manager does not automatically guarantee an improvement. United have experienced several managerial transitions since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, and the club has repeatedly struggled to maintain progress after making changes in the dugout.

Ratcliffe must therefore consider whether Carrick is the primary problem or whether deeper structural issues are contributing to the club’s disappointing performances. Recruitment decisions, squad balance, player development and the relationship between the coaching staff and the club’s football executives are all factors that may influence the team’s fortunes.

If United decide to dismiss Carrick, his successor will inherit a team under significant pressure and a fanbase desperate for evidence that the club is moving in the right direction. The next appointment would need to be supported by a clear plan rather than being treated as another quick fix.

At the same time, allowing Carrick to remain in charge carries its own risks. Every disappointing result increases the pressure on the manager and the leadership. Supporters want to see improvement on the pitch, and patience could diminish further if United fail to respond positively in their upcoming matches.

The club’s position in the Premier League has made the situation particularly concerning. United have struggled to collect points consistently, and their disappointing performances have raised fears about how damaging another prolonged run without victories could become.

Carrick has acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, admitting after the Bournemouth defeat that the team’s performances and results had not been good enough. Nevertheless, he has continued his work at the training ground while the club considers its options.

The fact that Carrick has not yet been dismissed should not necessarily be interpreted as a guarantee that he will remain in the job for the rest of the season. Instead, it highlights the uncertainty surrounding United’s decision-making process as the leadership weighs the risks of retaining him against the challenges of finding a replacement.

For Ratcliffe, the coming days could prove decisive. United need to determine whether Carrick deserves more time to turn the situation around or whether a new manager would give the club a better chance of recovering from its difficult start.

Ultimately, Manchester United’s immediate priority must be to restore confidence, improve performances and establish a clear direction for the future. Whether Carrick remains in charge or a replacement is appointed, the club cannot continue allowing uncertainty surrounding the managerial position to overshadow its ambitions.

For now, Carrick remains Manchester United’s manager, but his future is far from secure. Ratcliffe and the club’s other decision-makers face an important choice: continue backing the current coach in the hope that results improve, or make another managerial change in an attempt to revive the team’s season.
